SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ETHNIC MINORITY WOMEN

Our scholarship program gives critical funding to ethnic minority women from Myanmar and Thailand to pursue their undergraduate degrees. Our scholarships are awarded based on merit, need, and potential positive impact a student’s degree and career can have to uplift others upon graduation. 

LOTUS SCHOLARSHIP

The Lotus Scholarship provides full coverage of tuition and living expenses for a select few outstanding students.

Lotus scholars will receive:

  • Tuition

  • Travel Expenses

  • Living Stipend

  • Visa Paperwork

  • Medical Insurance

  • School Supplies

ORCHID SCHOLARSHIP

Our Orchid Scholarship provides partial funding for tuition fees or living expenses to students in need.

Living expenses are up to 10,000THB per month for students studying in Thailand, Bangladesh and other parts of SE Asia.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Scholarships awarded to ethnic minority women from Myanmar or Thailand

  • We prioritize students who are refugees, IDP’s, migrants, and those coming from underprivileged socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • We prioritize students who want to use their education for good (for helping others in underprivileged communities) 

  • We prioritize the following fields of study:

    • Mental Health & Psychology 

    • Development

    • Conflict and Peace Studies

    • Ecology and Environmental Sustainability

    • Social Sciences

    • Public Administration, Policy and Governance

    • Education

    • Public Health

    • Communication Arts

    • Law

    • History and Cultural Studies


APPLICATION ASSESSMENT

Applicants will be largely evaluated on their responses to the following 5 essay questions:

1. BIOGRAPHY

Tell us about yourself! Where you are from, your ethnicity, family background, proudest achievements and anything else you think makes you who you are today. (150 words maximum)

2. CAREER GOALS

What are your career goals and how will your intended study help you achieve them? What are some challenges you might face to make these career dreams come true? (200 words maximum)

3. GENDER EQUALITY

Why is gender equality important? (100 words maximum)

4. OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

Describe the most challenging hardship(s) you have overcome and how you overcame it. (200 words maximum)

5. IMPACT UPON GRADUATION

Upon graduation, how will you contribute to peace, equality and use your degree to be of service to others? (500 words maximum)


SELECTION PROCESS SCHEDULE

Application Deadline: March 1, 2024

Second Round Interviews Conducted:  March 15 - April 15, 2024

Scholarship Awards Announced: May 5, 2024
